A light at the end of the tunnel

Yesterday I started the last class that I need to finish my Master’s degree. I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I had originally hoped that the dates for teaching summer school would be after I finished class, but no such luck. Looks like superwoman gets 8 more weeks before she gets some rest.

Our Bible study is going well! I plan on updating the Handmade Hope page very soon! I’m working on taking some pictures of the cards we have done to post. I’m so excited to see this ministry come to life! I will have ways that other crafters can participate in the future, so please check back soon if you are interested in learning more about our ministry!

Last week I got a big surprise! I was chosen to be featured on the Simon Says Stamp Blog as part of the Spotted! feature. You can check out the original blog post here. My sweet chickens were spotted and featured!

I made these super cute chickens for a dear friend of mine! She has moved to a new home and has a brand new barn and extra fancy coop for her chickens. She blessed me with some fresh eggs and I wanted to give her a little handmade love to thank her. 🙂 Isn’t her new coop just the cutest? So naturally, my little felties had to coordinate with her colors.

Busy can’t begin to describe my schedule, so some of my regularly scheduled crafting has been on hold. However, I do have a few things that I haven’t shared with you that I have today.

This used the My Favorite Things Warm & Fuzzy card kit. So many cute things in this kit! I can’t wait to get the new flower kit that is releasing today!

This is one of our class cards for Handmade Hope. I can’t wait to share more with you very soon!

Thanks for stopping in today and I appreciate you being patient! See you soon!

Long time…

Well, it has been a long time since I have had the opportunity to post any cards because between work and grad school, I just haven’t had the chance to work in the studio. But this week has been spring break from the kiddos, so I have had time to get homework done and play in the studio! 🙂 I have a few new cards to share, so I’ll get right to it…

I was excited to color this little lady and bought her so I could work on hair with my copics. I think I need to work on a little more definition with the darker color, but I think I did ok.

This little “long neck” was just too cute! I can’t wait to play some more with this stamp set!

My mom needed a (very belated) birthday card for one of her dear friends. She loves kitties and plants, so I took my cue from some of the MFT designers and combined these cute cats with the adorable new succulent stamps!

And this card just makes me smile! I have a growing collection of succulents in my kitchen, and I have my eye on a few cacti just like these to purchase soon.

I admit. Stamps and plants are my two addictions. It helps if you admit it, right?

My last card for today is doing double duty! I used the MFT Color Challenge for the card, as well as the Retro Sketches sketch for the week. It has been a while since I’ve been able to participate in a challenge, so I’m excited to have this little card made!

Thank you for checking in with me this week! Hope your week is blessed! We’ve had so much rain it is a surprise that we haven’t floated away!

Happy Saturday!

Just wanting to check in with you all today! I had a few new cards to share with you today.

The first is using the new sheep stamps from My Favorite Things. I think they are super cute! I don’t know why I like cute little sheep, but when I saw these stamps, I just knew I had to have them!

Today I thought I would try my hand at a box card. Honestly I woke up and thought, “you know, you haven’t tried one of those. You need to.” And so with the help of some things I die cut and colored last night, the makings of one card became a whole new creation. I’m pleased with how it came out!

I had so much fun making this card!! I got the smaller measurements from Split Coast Stampers and love that it is the perfect sized card!

I also wanted to participate in this week’s Color Throwdown, which was to use green, yellow, orange & gray. Click on the challenge image below to be taken to see all of the great submissions this week!

I think I’m off to create another box card! Easily a new favorite style!

Have a great Saturday!

Checking in

Well. School was back again in full force. Only got one new student after the break, and he’s a cutie! I’m so thankful that the rest of my crazies are so welcoming and have already made their new classmate a part of the family. Makes a school-momma proud. Lol!

I got a few new goodies in the mail this weekend, so I’ve tried to get a few projects done. Stamping and puppy love are the two things I miss while I’m at work. After two weeks at home, Lucy has had a hard time readjusting to mom being gone. Can we have a “Bring your dog to school” day?

This first card I am not going to show the card as a whole. I cased one of the MFT design team members for the ideas, and so even though I changed a few elements, I can’t take credit for this card. But I have to share the super cute new monkey!

The next card I made today was based off of this monkey one but has a few other changes. This idea is pretty cute, and makes for a fun card.

The last card I’ll share today is for the Retro Sketches sketch for this week. The sketch is #197. Here is the sketch. (Click the sketch to go to the Retro Sketches blog!)

I’m loving this plaid paper from MFT, and already had it out on my desk. So onto the card it went!

I originally had a different cat image pulled for this card, but the colors weren’t right after I chose the guava cardstock. But this little one was sitting in the stash, and it coordinated better!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

Happy New Year

Welcome to 2016! I’m excited to be spending some of my day here in my scrapbook studio working on some cards. This is one blessed crafter! I have a couple of cards for you today. 🙂

The first is very similar to a card I made a few months ago. It uses the My Favorite Things Top Dog stamp set and the new Simon Says Stamp Cute Snowflakes from the January card kit.

I used my copic markers to color the dogs and used some Simon Says Stamp Blue Jay ink to color the top of the scene.

My next card is for the ColorQ challenge for this week. This is my first time to participate. The challenge this week is:

(Click on the image to be taken to the ColourQ challenge blog)

I love Costal Cabana and absolutely dreaded the day when it retired. I have several things in the stash that are this color, so I was excited to play along this time. The inspiration piece is pretty festive, but I honestly don’t do much to celebrate the new year, so I thought what about just a fun, sparkly thank you card?

I again used my copic markers to color in the cat, fish, and bowl.

This little kitty made me think of my stray cat, (although I guess she isn’t stray anymore) Shadow. She has such pretty grey coloring.

I got a few pictures of her a few weeks ago and she was feeling playful and actually didn’t run when I held my phone up for a few minutes. We are still working on accepting touch, but she’s making a lot of progress. (This chair sits on my back porch right next to my back door.)

I hope that you have a blessed New Year’s Day and that you enjoy your time with family and friends.

Now I’m off to see one very jealous pup who is eager to play and snuggle. ❤️

    Change in the weather

Well, as I crafted with the January Simon Says Stamp card kit, I mentioned that the weather here was nice and warm. Not so much anymore. We went from the upper 70’s down to the 30’s and 40’s in about a day. Too drastic of a change of you ask me! But, I’ve been able to make a few more cards with the kit that I wanted to share. Hope you enjoy!

I thought that the little critters and characters would look cute in a little Polaroid frame, so I made one that would fit this smaller card size and let the penguin and walrus send a little hello.

This fun card measures 6 1/4 x 3 1/4. I used my fuse tool to make little shaker pockets and filled with some of the patterned paper and a few star confettis that I had in my stash.

This image is from Papertrey Ink. The Praises and Phrases stamp set is just darling and I love the messages and scriptures included. I had randomly stamped this image (this set is new but got ignored by all the Christmas cardmaking and sewing) and it matched the card kit papers nicely. I absolutely love that plaid!

My last card here uses a previous Mojo Monday sketch that I found on Pinterest. I look forward to catching up on some card challenges and sketches on the rest of my break.

One last card before I go today. This one is not wintery, but I enjoyed coloring the toucan. I also tried out a glitter embossing powder. Very fun and sparkly! I can’t wait to use it on some other projects!

    Have a great Tuesday!

    Hello :)

hello! It has been a little while since I last blogged. It has been a bit busy around here. The last three weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind with research papers, finals, and then all the Christmas festivities that go along with teaching third graders. They had Christmas programs, parties, and in the midst of all the chaos, I taught them how to do some simple sewing. Whew.

Needless to say, this past week was spent mostly with a dog in my lap and a sappy Christmas movie (or 11) on the t.v. Oh, and Christmas shopping a whole 5 days before the big day. I did good.

So, last night I got my January Simon Says Stamp card kit. I love the colors and the products for this month. (Even though it has been unseasonably warm here in Texas.) I just knew I had to take some time to whip out a few cards. These are the ones that I’ve made so far!

I used white embossing powder to emboss the snowflakes on watercolor paper and then used colors that matched the kit to make a fun snowy background!

This next card uses the Retro Sketches #195 sketch with the SSS card kit elements. I turned the sketch on its side and went to town.

I hope that you enjoyed today’s cards. 🙂 Hopefully I will have more cards for you very soon!
